Mitie Welcomes Technical Apprentices
Mitie has surpassed a target of recruiting 50 new technical apprentices in 2021 with the addition of a new intake of 41 apprentices to its Technical Services Apprenticeship Programme.
The programme is offered by Mitie’s Technical Services Academy which offers development opportunities, including formal training and mentorship, to help colleagues build the range of skills they need to progress to the next stage of their careers. From technical courses and qualifications for employees to upskill, through to training for colleagues wanting to transition to an operational management role, the Academy consists of four elements – Early Careers, Supervisor Essentials, Tech X and Career Pathways – to support colleagues at every stage of their career.
As part of their training, each apprentice will receive technical training in specific vocational disciplines that include options for maintenance and operations engineering, carpentry and joinery, or electrical engineering, to help kickstart their careers in the facilities management industry. The apprenticeships will last between two and four years, with attendees combining studies at Mitie partner colleges in the UK with on-the-job training at client sites, including shadowing engineering experts.
On completion of the programme, all apprentices will be able to continue their career at Mitie as part of the business’ future core talent. The new intake reflects the group's focus on diversity and inclusion by including a mix of ages backgrounds.
Carlo Alloni, Managing Director, Technical Services, Mitie, comments: "Our talented people deliver the exceptional, every day. Through the Technical Services Apprenticeship Programme, we’re looking to attract and develop the next generation of engineers so that we can continue providing an excellent service for our customers, both now and in the future.
"We’re very excited to be welcoming all our 41 new apprentices to the team and we wish them a bright future in their careers at Mitie."
