Saving Energy at The Clock Tower Sanctuary

Company News

Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel Smart hand dryers have helped manage energy bills at The Clock Tower Sanctuary, Brighton’s only day centre specifically for homeless young people. Further benefits include their quiet operation, which is helping maintain a calming atmosphere.

Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel Smart hand dryers have helped manage energy bills at The Clock Tower Sanctuary, Brighton’s only day centre specifically for homeless young people. Further benefits include their quiet operation, which is helping maintain a calming atmosphere.

The Jet Towel Smart is a new ‘hands-under’ dryer based on the globally successful ‘hands-in’ Jet Towel Slim, featuring Mitsubishi Electric’s quality build, high performance and energy efficiency. Using only 490 – 780W of power, it dries hands from only 9 seconds, activating the instant hands are placed under it. It is ultra quiet, running at only 58-62dB, and is very compact.

An antimicrobial material is used, giving enhanced hygienic properties, while a filter separates dust and particles from the air before it is blown onto users’ hands.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary provides both crisis support services and one-to-one support to help young people move into training, employment and independent living. It is a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space that allows young people to engage with their peers, the volunteer team and visiting agencies. Its clients have access to food, showers, laundry, computers and telephones, while medical and dental visits and other help can be arranged.

Natalia Borg, the Development Co-ordinator from The Sanctuary says: “ We are so grateful to Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel for donating such fantastic hand driers! They have made an instant impact, helping create a hygienic and inviting ambiance in the centre. Thank you!”

The Jet Towel Smart’s quiet operation helps with this, while their silver colour looks modern and non-institutional. Their speed of drying belies the small amount of electrical power they use, and there are further savings because the charity does not have to buy paper towels or launder textile ones.

The moving-on services include one-to-one case-working, mentoring and skills development. For these to be effective a calm and relaxed environment is needed, which the quiet Jet Towel Smart dryers help maintain.

With such high levels of homelessness in Brighton - double the national average – the demand on the centre is high. At the busiest times, there is a temptation to not dry hands thoroughly, which can potentially increase bacterial spread. The Jet Towel Smart’s speed of drying means users rarely fall into this trap.

Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel Smarts are also available in white.

About Mitsubishi Jet Towel

Mitsubishi Electric’s first Jet Towel was launched in 1993 and the version now available in Europe is in the eighth generation of its development. It has proved a winner with installers for its high tech elegance, with operators for its low running cost and reliability, and with users for its convenience, speed, hygiene and innovative design. The Jet Towel has high environmental credentials, avoiding the use of paper towels or rolled cloth and lowering power consumption and noise levels to a fraction of alternative hot air dryers.  Visit www.jettowel.co.uk for further information.
