Author: British Institute of Facilities Management

Event at Channel 4 attended by more than 150 guests.

Over 150 guests attended the British Institute of Facilities Management’s (BIFM) inaugural ‘Corporate Members Monthly Event’, held at Channel 4, London on 31 October.

The event, which was well received by the facilities management (FM) industry, is considered by the Institute as being central to supporting FM organisations. Gareth Tancred, CEO of BIFM, said “With over 580 Corporate Members, there was a real need to host events specifically tailored to these organisations. Many members came to us requesting a professional platform to network, engage and share best practice and experience with fellow organisations. Feedback to date is that we not only met this need, but exceeded it through our first event. Thank you to everyone who attended, and who supported us in this new venture.”

The event was opened by Tancred, who gave an insight into future plans and aspirations for the Institute, including its new mission, vision and values, and strategic plans for international growth and development. He also announced that BIFM is to partner with ITN to produce ‘BIFM TV’. Mark Nicholas, Corporate Account Manager at BIFM, then spoke about Corporate and Group Membership benefits, specifically focussing on profile and professional development. Guests then had ample time for important networking opportunities, which is a key element of so many BIFM events.

The next Corporate Member Monthly Event will take place on 27 November in London. To keep the format fresh, client-side FMs will be invited to discuss relationships between clients and suppliers to create a better way of working for the future.

The monthly events will then be national from 2014. Alongside London events taking place on the last Wednesday of every month, January will see the first event being hosted in the South West region, and there are plans underway for events in the North of England, Scotland and Ireland in a series called ‘Meet the Regions’.

BIFM would like to thank Scanomat and Helistrat for sponsoring the event, BaxterStorey for providing the catering and Channel 4 for hosting the hugely successful inaugural event.
