Shield Group hosts Summer Security Conference at The Guildhall

One of UK’s leading total security solutions providers, The Shield Group, has hosted its inaugural Summer security conference at The Guildhall in London.

July marked the date for the award-winning, national security company, The Shield Group’s, inaugural Summer Security Conference at the historic grounds of The Guildhall London.

Chaired by The Shield Group’s Commercial Director Stephen Hollings, just under 70 guests, comprising of City of London business and major corporate security leaders, joined The Shield Group’s team of experts, for an afternoon of dynamic think-tank seminars on three prominent themes in the business security sector.

Keynote speeches were delivered by industry thought-leaders from the public and private sectors, demonstrating authority and ownership of their selected topics.

  • Don Brown, Assistant Director for Salford City Council’s topic of discussion, Project Gulf – Partnership Intervention Toolkit, described how Salford City Council were using all government bodies to work together to crack down on organised crime. Project Gulf is a new police initiative designed to protect communities and cities across the UK from the threat of organised crime through intervention and interruption of the criminal community.  This revolutionary initiative aims to coordinate the resources of the police, emergency services, local authorities other government bodies to disrupt the criminal activities of known gangs and families. Previously these gangs have been difficult to target and had a corrosive effect on the local community.
  • Professor Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International spoke on the subject of How Criminals Get Around Security. He shared with the audience fascinating stories and insights into criminal behaviour learnt first-hand from empirical research with criminals in prison. It was amusing and insightful for the audience to learn more about how criminals think.
  • Trevor Dyson, Detective Chief Inspector at City of London Police Special Branch gave the audience a Terrorism & Treat Update, as he explained and updated guests with a clear understanding of the various threat levels throughout the UK, such as from Ireland and Al Qaeda. 

The conference also marked the launch of The Shield Group’s new website and company brochure, which reflects the company’s transformation of its provision of total security services. The Shield Group has introduced four strategic business verticals combining traditional man-power, a consultancy business, innovative technology and monitoring from their own CAT 2 Monitoring Centre. 

At the conference, Stephen Hollings highlighted the company’s exciting expansion plans: “The Shield Group Summer Security Conference provided the perfect opportunity to begin changing the perceptions of The Shield Group within the UK security industry.

This conference provided an opportunity for The Shield Group to recognise Fabio Aurellio as the Security Site Manager of the Year.  He was warmly applauded and presented with an award by Tom King the Operations Director.
