Lean and efficient inventory management system to enable a full consignment inventory purchasing model.

July 10, 2013 – LogiTag Systems, a leading provider of RFID solutions and high-value inventory management systems, and a leading medical device company has installed the SmartCabinet solution at dozens of hospitals.  The solution utilizes patent-protected RFID technology and proprietary cloud-based software for inventory management, providing hospitals and vendors precise, real-time inventory management at the item level. It eliminated manual counting, leading to 100% transparency between the medical device supply company and the hospitals and enabling all sides to work under a (previously unfeasible) consignment purchasing model.

The way it works is - nurses and other pre-approved hospital staff take needed items from a locked cabinet, while the system automatically records what was removed, by whom, and for what purpose. This important information, located on a cloud server, is transparent for both hospital and medical device company, thereby eliminating disputes over quantities used or payments owed. In addition, re-stock alerts, invoices, notification of expiring items are automatically sent to relevant persons.

“It’s a pleasure working with LogiTag, as they have transformed the relationships with hospitals we service,” says Business Manager at a leading medical supply company. “These are large organizations, with a busy staff, 24X7 activities, and immediate needs for supplies. If our inventory isn’t used under such an automated system, everything is prone to errors. More of our inventory can stock up, unused, expired, while we have no control over it. The loss for us can be greater under consignment, where hospitals only pay once the supplies are used up. SmartCabinet eliminated all of this, and created a ‘win-win’ situation. I plan on working with LogiTag on further projects, at other hospital departments and for further uses - including patient tracking, bed tracking and more.”

“We have been working with large medical supply companies for a long time,” says Shlomo Matityaho. “Each one was dealing with a real problem of managing million dollars’ worth of supplies under consignment. Our solutions completely eliminate any risks as they now hold precise information on inventory levels, its usage, and status of their high-value medical devices. In addition, medical suppliers have an enhanced positioning in the eyes of hospitals, as they are part of cutting edge technology. I feel,” continues Matityaho,” that this kind of proven success can be duplicated in other healthcare facilities, with further medical supply companies, creating improved working routines, and ultimately enabling more time for patient care.”

SmartCabinet is currently operating at tens of hospitals around the world including New York Hospital Queens, Columbus Community Hospital, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Pavia hospital, HMC, Ichilov Hospital, Shiba Medical Center, Poria Hospital in ORs, cath-labs and other hospital departments.
