UK's largest specialist hire company announces free app for facilities managers with building services responsibility.

Andrews Sykes, the UK’s largest specialist hire company, has today announced the launch of its new app for iPhone and iPad. The free app is designed to appeal to facilities managers with responsibility for building services - especially in situations where there is a requirement for temporary climate control equipment (heaters, boilers, chillers and air conditioning units) during episodes of system failure or maintenance.

Paul Wood, Managing Director of Andrews Sykes said: “We understand that facilities managers operate in a diverse array of industries and markets and this app is designed to appeal to those who need information at their fingertips, in circumstances where perhaps a laptop or PC isn’t readily available, or where urgency is paramount and a mobile tool is needed".

“Some of our FM clients require units to be on site within just hours of sourcing a quote and we therefore believe this app will be a highly functional medium for accessing our services. It also complements our mobile site, for people out in the field or when time really is of the essence.”

The app has most of the resources available on the Andrews Sykes website but with two key functions especially suited to mobile use:

  • A heating and cooling calculator which allows users to quickly calculate the capacity that may be required from either heating or cooling units for different sized rooms.
  • A photo quotation option that offers a simple way for users to obtain a quote by capturing an image of the designated room and then uploading the photo for review by a team of experts.

The app will also provide users with information about Andrews Sykes’ depots across the UK and users can also find and contact their local depot via the app’s depot locator tool. For anyone wanting to keep abreast of the company’s news, the app also offers quick links to Andrews Sykes’ Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Blog pages as well as direct access to live chat.
