Author: Woodscape Ltd.

Leading supermarket Tesco continues to work closely with company as part of ‘Build a Better Tesco’ initiative.

North-West of England street furniture manufacturer, Woodscape, has become a strategic partner of the Tesco Group, which is introducing wooden furniture and fixtures into its stores as part of its 'Build a Better Tesco" initiative.

In a bid to humanise stores and make them more welcoming for shoppers, Tesco has used an exclusively designed range of wooden seating, planters, litter bins and trolley shelters from Woodscape.

A Senior Design Manager at Tesco said: “The exceptional service, product quality and behind-the-scenes support to deliver first-time can only be described as market leading. Woodscape’s products are standout in terms of design and true, quality-craftsmanship and they have a thorough understanding of retail and the speed of change.”

It is through their strategic relationship that Woodscape have been able to advise Tesco on the numerous benefits to using timber - not just externally, but for internal fixtures and cladding as well.

Benefits include natural ambiance, minimal maintenance and a wide variety of styles, textures and finishes; as well as the ability to procure sustainable timber from well-managed forests. The environmental advantages of using timber are multiple and contribute to a much lower carbon footprint.

Managing Director of Woodscape Richard Nelson commented: “We’re incredibly proud to be a strategic partner to Tesco and appreciate the recognition from such a hugely influential buying group about the quality of our timber furniture products and the expertise of our teams. This association has certainly taught us how to be a much leaner and more robust organisation.”

An extensive training programme has also been provided by Woodscape for Tesco installation engineers, as they pioneer a new approach to building for retail through the consolidation of installation work to one internal team.

Tesco has made great progress with their refresh programme, updating some 300 stores so far. With many more to follow Woodscape expects a busy year ahead.
