US$653.06 million (AED 2.4 billion) contract awarded to Arabtec,  Constructora San Jose and Oger Abu Dhabi consortium.

The Government of Abu Dhabi's Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) has confirmed the award of the master contract for the Louvre Abu Dhabi to a consortium led by Arabtec.

The award follows a competitive tendering process introduced following the postponement of the project's original 2012 opening date.

Work on the 64,000m² "floating" art gallery will include construction of a complex of pavilions, plazas and canals and is expected to begin immediately. Arabtec Managing Director, Hasan Ismaik, has described the project which was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Jean Nouvel, as both a privilege and a challenge:

"To be involved in such a renowned and highly innovative development was always a dream of our founder, and we look forward to continuing to help mirror and realise the incredible vision of the UAE," he says, before adding that the louvre Abu Dhabi is "undoubtedly the most anticipated cultural development in the region and truly reflects the Emirate's ambition to strengthen its position on the global map as a cultural epicentre."
