Only 9 months on the job: Carillion's departed Group Finance Director, Zafar Khan.
New Finance Chief Quits Struggling Carillion
Zafar Khan who succeeded Richard Adams as Carillion's Group Finance Director in December 2016 has resigned, triggering a major boardroom reshuffle at the construction and support services outsourcer.
Carillion has confirmed Emma Mercer, the Finance Director of its UK construction business and a former Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice-President of it's Canadian business, as Khan's replacement.
Other key announcements include the replacement of Chief Operating Officer Richard Howson on 1 October by current President and Chief Executive of Carillion Canada Andy Jones and news that the Managing Director of Carillion Construction Services Adam Green, the Managing Director of Carillion Services Nigel Taylor, as well as the Group's Strategy Director Shaun Carter, will all be departing imminently.
Carillion, which has been restructuring in response to a massive fall in its market capitalisation following investor concerns about exposure to high value, low-margin construction projects, has also announced the appointment to its board on secondment from advisors Ernst & Young, of change management specialist Lee Watson who will become the Group's Chief Transformation Officer.
