Robert Baker 66, from Walsall, has been named "Window Cleaner of the Year" during an awards ceremony at the 2017 edition of the UK's biggest cleaning event, The Cleaning Show. His employees, Birmingham-based Art Cleaning, were also named runners-up for the "Window Cleaning Company of the Year" award at the same event.

Robert, who joined the company in 2005, has worked as a window cleaner since the age of 15 and comes from a long line of window cleaners that includes his grandfather and father, and was singled out for his professional commitment even in face of personal challenges, in a career that has seen him battle two cancer diagnoses and return to work only months after receiving aggressive therapy and, more recently, promoted to Works Foreman by his company.

Speaking about the award, he said, "I am honoured and also love this industry", before adding: "If I had to go back in time, I would even do it all again!”

Art Cleaning MD, Simon Hart, said: "for Robert to have won Window Cleaner of the Year was fantastic. He is an asset to the company and the award is  incredibly well deserved. Every company needs a Robert, and the day he hangs up his bucket will be a very sad day, indeed”.

The Window Cleaner of the Year and Cleaning Company of the Year awards were held on 14th March at the London ExCeL.
