Consecutive RoSPA Award for EMCOR UK

Company News, Health, Safety & Environment, Health, Safety, Security & Environment, EMEA
EMCOR UK has been presented with a RoSPA Facilities Management sector award for the second consecutive year for its work with AWE. The award, in recognition for outstanding and consistent health and safety performance, was presented at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards event held in London on 19th June, 2018. EMCOR UK and AWE have won a total of 17 RoSPA awards together, a significant number of RoSPAs within the facilities management sector.

The RoSPA Awards – the longest-running safety awards scheme in the UK – is internationally recognised and marks outstanding achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. The RoSPA competitive sector awards recognise organisations that have demonstrated the best health and safety management performance within specific industry sectors.

EMCOR UK and AWE’s rigid specifications regarding health and safety standards are particularly significant given the demanding and technical nature of the work carried out on a day-to-day basis at AWE. Indeed, the broad and unique spectrum of facilities management service responsibilities provided to AWE by EMCOR UK make EMCOR UK’s achievement particularly remarkable.

Keith Chanter, CEO, EMCOR UK, said: “EMCOR UK is honoured to be presented with the top award in the facilities management category at the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards for the second consecutive year. The outstanding health and safety record we’ve achieved through working collaboratively with AWE is the result of hard work, continual innovation, and strong leadership. This award is a testament to the tireless dedication towards health and safety best practice with our client, and reflects continued commitment to the high standards we’re known for in the industry, and amongst employees, customers, and contractors.”

Haydn Clulow, director of site and transformation at AWE, said: “Thanks to our work with EMCOR UK, AWE has enjoyed an exceptional safety record at our site, of which we are extremely proud. Since first working with EMCOR in 1995, we have received the highest quality of services, which in this critical scientific and manufacturing environment is particularly important from a health and safety perspective. We look forward to continuing our work with EMCOR UK to uphold this industry achievement”.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”
